The occasional smell of beer lingering in the air at Lakesview Studios is not down to partying but rather because of ongoing product photography at the Canterbury studio for Shepherd Neame in Kent. We’ve just finished some work on a location-based campaign for the Kent-based brewer, but the bottles and related promotional items tend to be shot at the commercial studio in Canterbury including the a new set of images for the Asahi and Sam Adams brands.

Photographing bottles involves the same challenges and decisions that you face when shooting any type of product or commercial studio shoot, regardless of whether it is still life or people-based photography, namely : where do I want the highlights and shadows to fall and how do I control the reflections? The ways these three things – highlights, shadows and reflections- work together can determine the overall shape and depth of any object.

A bottle is rarely taken in one, single shot. Pre-shoot cleaning and label removing make way for a series of pictures that create the highlights, shadows, backlight and edges. Place together they form a composited, final shot. If you have any product photography requirements for your business, either on location or in the studio in Canterbury, Kent do please get in touch and see how we can help.
