Photographing children and teachers for schools in Kent

Kent commercial photographers

The examples below are from two recent shoots involving photographing children and teachers for schools in Kent.

More often than not I’m looking for two things – interaction between children and teachers based on an activity and expressive facial features (if either the child or the teacher!) For both sets of pictures – the the Marlowe Theatre Children’s Festival and also Erith School, you can’t always expect the best light or that where you in relation to that light is the best place to be. Over half of the shots required a flash gun to simulate the direction that light would / should be coming from to give the pictures enhanced contrast, texture and depth. Yes, you could try and fake it in post production but that’s not how I work which is to build the picture whilst it’s in front of me, not afterwards.  Natural light, reflected light, artificial light –  in that order.
