Right off the back of the hottest July day ever, you might be thinking of making for the beach. Be sure to take your smartphone with you as you could take part in a new project that aims to create a “coastal soundmap” of the UK.

National Trust are partnering with British Library and the National Trust for Scotland to create the UK’s first ever coastal sound map. By sharing our favourite sounds of our shores it will create a soundscape of the nation’s coastline. Musician Martyn Ware, a founder member of bands The Human League and Heaven 17, will use sounds submitted by the public to create a piece of music for release in February 2016. Martyn has had a deep connection with the coast for most of his life.

The national editorial photography involving Heaven 17 and the National Trust involved taking a series of campaign pictures published by The Independent, BBC, Guardian and PA (Press Association).
